Poplar secured their third trophy of the season with a comfortable, if surprisingly easy 4-1 win against a Glascote side that never really got going.

Poplar started brightly and deservedly took the lead on 15 minutes with Danny Harris scoring with a well placed angle finish to the bottom corner of the stranded keeper.

Poplar continued to dominate the half and easily snuffed out the limited raids from Glascote, apart from one moment when Yonwin was clean through, but dragged his shot wide of Needham's right hand post. Poplar extended their lead just after the half-hour mark, when Chris Brook rose to finish a neat move.

The second half started in much the same vein as Glascote's opportunities were thwarted before they could reach the well-marshalled Poplar defence.

On 54 minutes, man of the match Danny Harris secured his second and Poplar's third with a tidy finish, before Lee Buggea completed the Poplar scoring on 64 minutes.

It was only now that Glascote decided to arrive to the final. Missing a gilt edged opportunity on 68 minutes before Joe Obi scored arguably the goal of the game on 70 minutes as he controlled the ball on the edge of the box, turned his marker before slotting past an exposed Needham. A minute later and Yonwin found himself clear with only the keeper to beat, but this time, could only beat the outside of Needham's left hand post.  What might have been for Glascote?

Tempers became frayed during the final moments and saw one player dismissed from each team in a game that was excellently managed by referee John McCabe and his assistants.

To summarise, a throughly deserved win for the Bedworth boys and Glascote can have no complaints about the outcome.
