TRIBUNE CHALLENGE CUP FINAL

Collycroft Goose  3 - 2  White Hart R.L

MEET THE TEAMS.

Collycroft Goose FC

White Hart R.L FC

Collycroft Goose, already promoted to Premier One next season, completed their season with another trophy for the cabinet.  A 3-2 win over White Hart RL secured them the Tribune Cup.  White Hart, will also play Premier One football next season, took a first half lead through Romi Cammock. His pace took him around the Goose defence and he calmly slotted home.  After the break, Collycroft put the White Hart goal under some pressure and from a series of left wing crosses they equalised. Lee Darlison was the supplier, John Murray nipped in to head home from 6 yards. Five minutes later Goose were in front. Darlison swung over the corner but a half clearance saw in drop to Paul Spacey, whose volley from the edge of the area was well saved by Adie Williams, unfortunately the ball rolled out to Guy Barnet ho made no mistake. Despite going behind White Hart took the game to Goose and equalised five minutes later. Stuart Dawe was pushed over in the box and skipper Dave Turner sent the keeper the wrong way from the penalty.

Goose had several more chances to find the winner but efforts from Murray, Spacey and Barnet failed to break the deadlock. However just as extra time was looming, Spacey swung in a cross from the right which White Hart keeper Williams got his fingertips to but couldn’t hold on. The ball dropped over his should into the path of Barnet, who had ghosted in behind, for the easiest of goals to win the game. White Hart had a very late chance win the game from a free kick, which was fumbled onto the bar and cleared away.
