In warm spring sunshine, both teams came quickly out of the traps, with Mount Pleasant taking an early lead through Nik Berry.  Ford Sports were on the back foot but kept pushing forward equalising on 35 minutes when Paul Grears netted.  With Half time closing in Mount Pleasant restored their lead through Dennis Seymour.

With Ford Sports Reserves on top, Mount Pleasant held the advantage until the 85th minute when the Pleasant goalkeeper was judged to have fouled a Sports forward in the area.  Ian Ensor slotted home the spot kick to take the game into extra time.  No addition were made to the score and Ford held their nerve in the penalty shoot out to lift the Sporting Touch cup.
