Thistle to prickly for the
Rose !
Weddington Thistle blasted their way into the next round
of the
Glass 2000
cup with a 10-1 win over Coton Rose. Sasha Grewcock, Alex
Evans and Ashley Morgan all scored twice for Thistle, Tom
Bray, Graham Fletcher, Elliot Chamberlain and Matt Brown
added the singles. Dave Gazeley scored the Coton Rose
consolation. Todd Lomax, Matt Storer and Rob Hewson all
found the net for Ambleside as they beat Wentworth
Wanderers 3-2. Paul Johnson and James Hill replied for
Wentworth. Attleboro Arms also progressed after a 3-2 at
the expense of Bull & Anchor Ash Green. Collycroft
Cricketers completed the first round games as they knocked
out Black Horse Sports 3-0.

Two weeks ago Fir Tree were humbled 9-4 by Sunnyside in
their
Mission Fashion Premier One
fixture but this week Fir Tree gained revenge in the
Ian Neale Builders Cup
with a 2-1 win. Holders Haunchwood squeezed past White
Hart RL 3-2, while last seasons runners up Ford Sports
progressed with a 6-3 win over Chase FC. Ford raced into a
4-0 half time lead. Chris Bray opened their account with a
25-yard volley, Neil Mather bagged a couple and a Graham
Woods single completed the first half scoring. Ben
Woolaston and two Christian Hollywood goals brought Chase
back into the game but they later missed a penalty before
two further goals from Lee Petch secured the victory for
Ford. Kieran Moore scored twice for the rejuvenated
Bulkington White Lion who went on to beat Collycroft Goose
5-0. Darren Whitmore, Jim Darlison and the goal of the
game from Robbie Jones completed the scoring.
Kelly’s Bar runners up in last seasons Sid Clay Cup hope
to go one better in the
N.I.C. Cup
this term and started out as they mean to go on with a 3-2
win over Hartshill Sports Res. Scott Harness gave
Hartshill the lead but Daniel Moreton equalised after
being left unmarked at the far post. He then volleyed in
his second before Kelly’s Bar let in Lee Molineaux for a
Hartshill equaliser. The sides were level for only four
minutes before Lee Matthews headed the winner for Kelly’s
Bar. Lancet, Haunchwood Sports Res and Trent FC Res all
enjoyed first round wins against Nuneaton Punch Bowl,
Attleboro Mills and Ansley Social.

Keith Thomas scored the only goal of the game for
Attleboro Oak as they beat Windmill 1-0 in the first round
of the
Sid Clay Memorial Cup.
Nags Head also enjoyed a 1-0 win as they beat Stockingford
Sports, while New Dolphin Res needed penalties to beat
Chase FC after both sides were locked together at 2-2.
Dolphin won the shoot out 5-3.
Ambleside Res had keeper Nino Pip to thank for their 4-2
penalty shoot out win over Yenton Sunday in the
Brain Dowsett Memorial Cup
first round. His saves during the shootout ensured they
went through 4-2. Both sides were level at 1-1 with Aaron
Biggs scoring for Ambleside and Kieran Brown for Yenton.
Mount Pleasant are setting their stall out for an early
shout at a cup and league double after they beat close
rivals Chapel End Salutation 3-1.
Adam Hancox bagged a hat trick for Collycroft Cricketers
Res in their 6-3 win over Anker Inn. Tim Panter 2 and
Gavin Waring also scored for Cricketers. Rob Fyfe, Paul
Arnold and Paul Faulkner replied for Anker. Dominic Wood,
Andy Lloyd, Tom Clark and Mark Wilson all found the net
for Wentworth Wanderers Res in their 4-1 win over
Attleboro Sports. Adam Bolesworth replied for
Attleboro.
Lewis Ramone scored four times; Dave Jones added three
more as Nuneaton Riley's beat Stockingford Sports Res 8-0
in their first round of the
Cannon Sports Cup.
Adam Davis, Darren Castel and Luke Pearson all found the
net for Yenton Res as they beat Lord Raglan 3-1. Richard
Hood scored the Raglan goal. Michael Haynes scored the
only goal of the game for Jailhouse as they beat Hayrick
1-0, while Abbey Athletic beat Wentworth Warriors 4-3 on
penalties after both sides finished level on 3-3.
In the league games played, Hartshill Sports moved up to
second spot in
Mission Fashion Premier One
thanks to a 3-1 win over Nuneaton Prince. Scott Molineaux
scored twice for Hartshill, Darren Eggleton scored the
other.
The top of the table clash in
Deslandes Premier Two
ended all square with Trent and Crystal drawing 1-1.
Nathan Gilliver gave Crystal the lead but Ben Mountford
replied for Trent.
Ashley Wilkes and Giles Andwar both scored twice for Hill
Top as they beat Nuneaton Cherry Tree 8-0 in
Alphie Cain division one.
Richard Avery, Danny Armiger, Jonny Robbins and Jim
Elliott also found the net for Hill Top.
Michael Nixon scored four times for Ford Oak Res in their
10-2 win over Attleboro Mills Res. Richard Watson bagged
another 3 of the Ford goals, Terry Edmonds 2 and Martin
Bates completed the scoring.
Andy Taylor hit the target twice for Mancetter Sports as
they avenged a 5-2 defeat against Chapel End Salutation
Res. Ashley Barker and Jim Bennett completed the scoring
for Mancetter as they won 4-2.
