top of the World !
Mount Pleasant Bedworth won their first trophy when they
came from behind to win the
Daily Tribune Cup,
on penalties, from Ambleside Res. The game came to life
ten minutes before the end as up until then neither side
really troubled the keepers. Mount Pleasant took the lead
thanks to a 20-yard shot from skipper Sean Morrissey, but
straight from the kick off, Ambleside equalised through
Dean Ballard. Into extra time and chances came at both
ends but Ambleside took the lead through Craig Garner’s
penalty. With seven minutes of extra time left, Nik Berry
headed in from a corner to draw Mount Pleasant level and
force a shoot out. With Ambleside reaching the final
thanks to a semi final penalties win they must have felt
confident but after a marathon nine penalties Mount
Pleasant edged it 7-6.
