Two out Two for Ambleside
AFC !
It was a good week for Ambleside first team and Reserves
as both won their cup semi finals, beating their
respective first and reserves steam from Wentworth
Wanderers. Ambleside first team beat Wentworth’s first
team in the
Vernon Baggott Memorial Cup
3-1, in a game that went to extra time. Wentworth took the
lead through Dave Robinson’s bullet header but Ambleside
equalised through Jim Peakall late in the game to force
extra time. Ian Chaddaway and Tom Blundell scored further
goals for Ambleside to win the game. They will play
Bedworth Liberals who beat Bedworth Travellers 4-1.

Action in the Crystal FC v Trent FC
- Willy Muir Memorial Cup Semi-Final
Ambleside Res needed extra time and penalties, for the
fourth time this season, to reach the final of the
Daily Tribune Trophy.
Tom Clarke and Mark Wilson found the net for Wentworth
Wanderers Res but Dean Ballard and Simon Rawbone equalised
for Ambleside to force a shoot out. Ambleside keeper Nino
Pap earned himself a few drinks after the game as he saved
three of Wentworth’s five penalties to leave Ambleside 2-1
victors. They will meat Mount Pleasant Bedworth who
knocked out Coton Rose 2-1.
Two goals from Michael Olner and one each from Craig Long
and Gary Duncan saw Collycroft Goose into the final of the
Nuneaton Cottage Cup
after they beat Chase FC 4-3. Jamie Steel, Ben Wollason
and Kristian Hollowood replied for Chase. Drayton won the
other semi final beating Ford Sports 2-1. Mark Petch found
the net for Ford, but Jamie Wilson and Martin Sadler
secured victory for Drayton.
Trent FC remain on course for a cup treble after they beat
Crystal Sunday 3-0 in the
Willy Muir Memorial Cup.
Handily placed in Premier Two they are already in the
final of the Glass 2000 Cup and only Weddington Thistle
stand in their way of a treble. Ben Rowan, Aaron Adcock
and Andy Massey all found the net in their win over
Crystal. Weddington Thistle edged passed Black Horse
Sports in the other semi, finally coming out 2-1 winners.
Ashley Rogers and Liam Brown scored the Weddington goals,
Jamie Cattell replied for Black Horse.

Trent on the attack at Smorrell Lane
In the
John ‘Knocker’ West cup
Windmill secured a place in the end of season final with a
4-2 win over Nuneaton Prince Res. Yenton Sunday await them
in the final after they beat Chapel End Salutation 2-1.
Andy Redwood scored the Chapel End goal but Adrian Talbot
and Piotr Nienczynski replied for Yenton.
The final of the
W H Pearson Bowl
will have a local derby feel as Kelly’s Bar face Attleboro
Mills. Kelly’s Bar’s Texan born striker Andy Hill filled
his boots by scoring both Kelly’s Bar goals as they beat
Hartshill Sports Res 2-1. Adam Rogers scored the Hartshill
goal. Attleboro Mills meanwhile beat Stockingford White
Lion 4-2 after extra time after both sides were locked
together at 2-2after 90minutes. Curtis Osborne and Alan
Reader scored for Mills in normal time, while Nick
Courtney and Dave Widdows replied for White Lion. Brendon
Gwent put Mills in front in the first half of extra time
and Stephen Bradley doubled the advantage late on.
In the league games played, Five points separates the top
seven teams in
Mission Fashion Premier one
in what promises to be the closest finish in many a year.
Hartshill Stay top, although they weren’t in action this
week, while White Hart RL move into second after they beat
local rivals Ridge Lane 2-0 thanks to goals from Dwayne Harvey
and Romy Cammock. Sunnyside in sixth place are just five
points of the pace but they had to settle for a 2-2 draw
with Haunchwood.

In
Aphie Cain division one
leaders Ford Oak had their lead at the top trimmed to a
single point as second placed Hill Top beat Lancet 4-3.
Ashley Wilkes, Adam Richardson, and two Danny Armiger
goals secured the points for Hill Top. Haunchwood Sports
Res consolidated their third spot with a 3-2 win over
Nuneaton Cherry Tree. Stuart Jerrams and Carl Douglas both
hit the target for Cherry Tree to give them a 2-0 lead
before Haunchwood staged their fight back to win.
Attleboro Oak closed the gap on
Nuneaton Print division two
leaders Stockingford Sports to eight points after they
beat Chase FC Res 2-0. Third placed Ford Sports Res came
from a goal down against Nags Head but had to settle for a
share of the points in a 2-2 draw. Lloyd Walton gave Nags
the lead but two Mark Aucott goals put Ford in front at
the break. Jamie Skelton then equalised for Nags to make
it 2-2 and earn the bottom club a valuable point in a
season ravaged by injuries. Old Swan took all three points
from a 3-1 win over Sunnyside Res while Ollie Manual
scored twice for Drayton in their 4-1 win over Ridge Lane
Res. Richard Wilson and an own goal, completed the Drayton
scoring, Steve Dixon scored the Ridge Lane consolation.
Weddington Thistle Res are back on top of
Nuneaton Trophies division one
after they beat Black Horse Sports Res 5-0. Matthew Travis
scored twice for the new league leaders, Adam Ternant,
Ross Copper and Danny Ginelli all added singles. Sporting
Lloyds slip to second after they were held to a goal less
draw at Hill Top Res.
In
Heartland Evening News division
four,
a 4-1 win for Royal Oak Bedworth lifts them into second
spot two points behind leaders Hartshill Manor. Bedworth
Liberals Res are back into third spot thanks to their 2-0
win over Attleboro Mills Res, Adam Harding and Lewis
Hartwell both scored for Liberals. James Horton scored
twice for PNW Athletico as they went on to beat Baddesley
Red Lion 5-0.Wayne Russell, Simon Gilbert and Andy Styring
scored the others.
Dave Jones scored twice for Nuneaton Riley.s as they beat
Stockingford Sports Res 4-3 in
Mortgage Advice Agency division five.
John Arshad scored twice for second placed Hayrick as they
edged passed Bedworth Miners Arms 3-2. Richard Gallagher
scored the other Hayrick goal.
