Five in race for Premier One !

The race for the Mission Fashion Premier One title looks to be heading for one of the closest finishes for may year as four clubs find themselves tied on 20 points at the top of the table. Goal difference gives Hartshill Sports top spot and they beat third placed Ford Sports 1-0 thanks to a goal from Mike Husselbury. White Hart are second but their cup game fell to the weather, while Bulkington White Lion, in fourth, missed the chance to go top after they drew 2-2 with Haunchwood. Dave Norman was on target from the penalty spot for Bulkington, while Ian Neale’s 40-yard lob secured them a point.

Coton Rose v Weddington Thistle !

Crystal Sunday climbed from fourth into second place in Deslandes Premier Two after they beat Bull & Anchor Ash Green, who were in second before the game, 4-1. Nick Ginnelli scored twice for Crystal, Danny Jordan and Carl Pearce added the singles. Roy Batchelor grabbed the Bull & Anchor consolation. Weddington Thistle’s3-2win over Coton Rose keeps them in third, while Bedworth Travellers continued their fight against relegation with a 4-0 win over Wentworth Wanderers. Ambleside moved up to fifth spot after they collected maximum points from a 2-1 win over Black Horse Sports. Paul Henson and Matthew Hall both scored for Ambleside in the first half and several missed chances in the second made for a nervous ending especially when Sean McCallum pulled a goal back for Black Horse. Despite this Ambleside held on to a 2-1 win.

Eyes on the Ball !

Ford Oak extended their lead at the top of Alphie Cain division one to seven points after they beat Kelly’s Bar 6-0. Dave Merry took his tally for the season to 24 after bagging a hat trick for Ford, Stuart Borden 2,one of them a penalty and Ian Clayton completed the scoring. Haunchwood Sports Res also found the net six times on their way to a 6-1 win over Attleboro Mills. Alan Tring scored two of the Haunchwood goals.

Stockingford Sports came from 2-0 down against Ridge Lane to share the points in a 2-2 draw and extend their lead at the top of Nuneaton Print division two to ten points. Drayton Res’ game against Nags Head was the only other division two game to beat the frost. Darren Phipps lobbed the Nags Head keeper from 40 yards to score the only goal of the game and earn Drayton Res all three points.

Another close finish is in prospect in Nuneaton Trophies division three where three points separate the top four. Nuneaton Prince Res stay top despite drawing 1-1 with Ambleside Res. Paul Duckhouse returned as a substitute for Ambleside after a lengthy absence to score the Ambleside goal, Warren Penson replied for Prince Res. Sporting Lloyds are back into second spot thanks to their 3-0 win over Chapel End Salutation, while Weddington Thistle found their scoring boots as they beat Black Horse Sports Res 7-0.

Hartshill Manor take over top spot in Heartland Evening News division four thanks to a thumping 8-0 win over Baddesley Red Lion. Dave Eccles, Matthew O’Toole and Danny Burton all scored twice for Hartshill while Stuart Nevitt and Terry Twigger scored the others. PNW Athletico let slip a 2-goal lead as they had to settle for a share of the points in a 2-2 draw with Bedworth Liberals Res. Dave Horns and Simon Gilbert gave PNW the lead but Liberals hit back, scoring the equaliser late on to share the points. Had it not been for Liberals keeper Sean Taylor, who pulled off five excellent saves, PNW would have been out of sight.

The top two sides in Mortgage Advice Agency division five are beginning to pull away from the rest and both enjoyed high scoring victories. FC Gallery stay on top on goal difference and this week they beat third placed Nuneaton Rileys 4-0 in the day’s top of the table clash. Dave Dennis scored two of the Gallery goals; Steve Kent and Paul McDonalds 30th of the season sealed the win. Hayrick stay in second and boosted their goal difference with an 8-3 win over Mancetter Athletic. John Arshad led the way wit a hat trick for Hayrick, Graham Goulden 2, Ian Hayes, Ryan Hayes and Jordan Williamson, scored the others. At the other end, Abbey Green Athletic returned to winning ways thanks to a 6-4 win over Wentworth Warriors. Jack Hubbard bagged a hat trick for Abbey, Dave Stewart, James Stewart and Anthony Clark added the singles. Scott Amos, Jason Daffern and two Tom Clarke goals made up the Warriors reply. Fred Williams and Charlie Jones both found the net for Bedworth Miners Arms as they beat Chapel End Salutation Res 2-0 for only their second league win of the season.
