Royal Oak and Sporting Lloyds eye double !

Two teams with a chance of a league and cup double will meet each other in the final of the Sporting Touch Cup. Division four leaders Royal Oak Bedworth, 3-2 winners over Ford Oak Res, meet Hartshill Manor, currently in fourth spot but only three points off the pace with two games in hand. Dale Oddy bagged a hat trick for Royal Oak, Terry Edmonds and Michael Nixon replied for Ford Oak. Hartshill Manor meanwhile knocked out Collycroft Cricketers Res 2-0 thanks to goals from Pete Gillam and Danny Burton.  

Collycroft Goose and Haunchwood Sports secured their places in the semi finals of the Tribune Cup after both overcame Premier One opposition. Goose eased passed Ridge Lane 5-1 with Danny Harris scoring twice. Ben Doran, Ben Twigger and Lewis Seymour scored the others. Stuart Deeming scored both Haunchwood goals in their 2-1 win over White Hat RL.  

FC Gallery secured a place in the final, their first final in their first season, of the Cannon Sports Cup after beating Mancetter Athletic 4-0. Paul McDonald helped Gallery on their way with a hat trick, Rob McDonald adding the single.


Attleboro Arms v Coton Rose in the Daily Tribune Cup

Ben Sadler and Aaron Brown both scored twice for Drayton Res as they went on to beat New Dolphin 5-1 in the first round of the Nuneaton Cottage Cup. Matthew George scored the other Drayton goal; Matthew Harding scored the New Dolphin consolation. Ford Sports overcame Sunnyside 3-0.  

In the Invitation cups, Ambleside shared the days top scored after they beat Coton Liberals 7-0 in the Vernon Baggott Memorial Cup. Ian Chaddaway bagged a hat trick for Ambleside with James Coss 2, Jim Inglis and Rob Youson supplying the others. Wentworth also scored seven times as they beat Attleboro Arms 7-1 in the same competition. Both sides will now meet each other for a place in the final.   

In the Willy Muir Memorial Cup, Gareth Holmes was on target for Stockingford Sports but they eventually went down 2-1 to Black Horse Sports, who will meet Weddington Thistle, 3-0 winners over Bull & Anchor. Matthew Benn scored twice for Weddington, Alex Evans the other. Danny Armiger scored twice for Hill Top against his old club but Crystal booked their semi final place with a 4-2 win. Nick Ginnelli scored twice for Crystal and set up the other two for Danny Jordan and Lee Hurst.  Trent FC will provide their semi final opposition as Sea Smith’s 1st goal for Trent proved to be the winner in their 1-0 success over Ford Oak.  


Coton defend the free kick !

Chapel End Salutation are one game away from the final of the John ‘Knocker’ West Memorial Cup final thanks to a 2-0 win over Weddington Thistle Res. Danny McLaughlin and Brett Walker both found the net for Chapel End who now meet Yenton Sunday. Yenton came from a goal down against highflying Ford Sports Res to win 2-1. Mark Aucott gave Ford the lead but Adrian Talbot equalised for Yenton before Scott Stewart scored a debut goal seconds from time to secure the win.  Jason Messenger’s goal for Windmill secured their place in the other semi final after they beat Nuneaton Punch Bowl 1-0.  

Kelly’s Bar eased into the semi finals of the W H Pearson Memorial Bowl thanks to a 5-2 win over Ridge Lane Res. Andy Hill, who originates from Texas, bagged a hat trick, Jason Field and Daniel Moreton rounded off the win. Tom Norman scored both Ridge Lane replies. Kelly’s Bar will now meet Hartshill Sports Res who beat Nags Head 3-1 thanks to two goals from Lee Molineaux and a single from Matt Lawley.  The other semi final will see Attleboro Mills and Stockingford White Lion lock horns. Mills beat New Dolphin Res 3-1, Steven Bradley, Nick Fessey and Rob Kirkbride all found the net for Mills, John Torony replied for New Dolphin.  White Lion eased passed Black Horse Sports Res 5-2. Adam Melia and Chris Harris scored the Black Horse goals.

Ambleside Res and Wentworth Wanderers Res both secured 2-1 victories in the Daily Tribune Cup and now face each other in the semi finals. Rich Feeney and Aaron Biggs found the net for Ambleside as they took on Hill Top Res, Steve Morris replied for Hill Top. Wentworth were 2-1winners over Anker Inn.  Coton Rose put their poor league performance behind them as they beat Attleboro Arms Res 4-3 on penalties. They meet Mount Pleasant Bedworth who beat Baddesley Red Lion 3-1.  

In the league games played, moved up to third spot in Mission Fashion Premier One after they beat Fir Tree 3-1.Wayne Boone, Mark Whittaker and Chris Pith were all on target for Hartshill, Andrew Carty replied for Fir Tree.  

The wind affected most games none more so than the Alphie Cain division one game between Trent FC Res and Haunchwood Sports Res. The open fields of Nicholas Chamberlain School provide difficult conditions and leading to a 0-0 score line.  

Drayton Res edged further away from the relegation zone in Nuneaton Print division two after they beat Chase FC Res 3-2.  Jason Molloy and Steve McCarthy gave Chase a 2-0 lead with both lobbing the Drayton keeper. With 15minutes left Drayton hit back scoring the winner two minutes from time.  

Bedworth Liberals Res continued their climb up the Heartland Evening News division five table, with a 3-1 win over PNW Athletico. James Harvey, Paul Brown and Sean Mosey all found the net for Liberals, Luke Melling replied for PNW. The subs bench came to the rescue of Attleboro Sports as they went onto beat Attleboro Mills Res 4-1. Tom Laybourn gave Sports the lead but Darren Davison and then Gary Sharpe, ending a 12 month goal drought with two, secured the points for Sports. Royston Gwent replied for Mills Res.   

Hayrick drew level on points with leaders F C Gallery at the top of Mortgage Advice Agency division five, after they beat Wentworth Warriors 2-1. John Arshad and Graham Goulden scored the Hayrick goals. Nuneaton Riley’s beat Yenton Res 5-0 while Chapel End Salutation Res and Abbey Green Athletic fought out a goalless draw. The bottom of the table clash saw Old Black Bank triumph 5-1 against Bedworth Miners Arms.  J Playford, J Rampton, A Titchener, N Walker and I Wilson scored the Old Black Bank goals.
