Melling nets FIVE in Observer Shield !

Luke Melling bagged all five goals for PNW Athletico as they reached the semi finals of the Observer Shield following a 5-3 win over Bedworth Old Black Bank.  Old Black Bank keeper Kevin Johns opened his team’s account when a kick out of his hands eluded the PNW defence. Andy Titchener scored the other two Black Bank goals but with Melling in fine form at the other end, PNW were always in control. They will now meet Nuneaton Cherry Tree who ended FC Gallery’s cup run with a 4-3 win on penalties. With neither side troubling the scorers in normal time, Cherry Tree took the lead six minutes from the end of extra time from the penalty spot. Just when it looked like being the only goal of game, Paul McDonald scored from 20 yards to force the shoot out. Wentworth Wanderers booked their place in the other semi thanks to a 6-0 win over Attleboro Sports. Kirk Taylor scored twice for the Premier Two side, Dave Robinson, James Hill, Alan Dyde and Andy Love scored the others.

Collycroft Cricketers FC - Premier Two

Chase FC finally managed to play their twice-postponed BCFA Sunday Cup match but despite a spirited effort they went out 3-1 to Peugeot Hills. Christian Hollowood scored the Chaser goal.

Kelly’s Bar also went out of the BCFA Junior Cup after a long trip to Wolverhampton. Lion Wombourne secured a 1-0 victory with a second half goal.

Ansley dominated the first hour of the game and took a 4-0 lead through two goals from Ed Prince and one each from Andy Kirkham and Shane Hunter. However Mills were not finished and helped by a brace from Alan Reader they reduced the arrears to 4-2. Nick Fessey came off the bench to grab a third and despite frantic defending Matt Harper scored an incredible fourth to complete the comeback.
