In a dour first half, both sides
struggled to find their touch and with both defences on
top, it took a 35 minute own goal from
Abbey's Mark Looms to
break the deadlock, a goal which would ultimately prove
decisive.
After the break both sides pushed
forward, but the two defences held firm.
Nuneaton Prince were
reduced to 10 men with 20 minutes remaining when
Darren McMaster was
dismissed for a second yellow card.
Abbey pushed on for an
equaliser coming closest in the 89th minute, seeing a goal
ruled out for offside.
