The game started at a high pace, with no side getting the upper hand.  Hill Top looking for a League & Cup Double began to get on top, but spirited defending and poor shooting kept the scores level, until the deadlock was broken on 30 minutes, when a through ball was played to Andrew Kirkham who slotted under the advancing keeper to put Haunchwood Sports into the lead

Haunchwood started the second half the stronger putting pressure on the Hill Top back line, But a committed Hill Top side, started to up the pressure, going close on two occasions, but finding Ryan Glover in the Haunchwood goal in superb form.  As the 90 minutes approached, Hill top kept up the pressure and only a magnificent save from Glover secured the victory for Haunchwood.
